Its exclusive blend combines warm woody notes with a gentle sweetness from patchouli, a touch of citrus freshness, and the subtle smokiness of vetiver. Affectionately known as “Nik’s candle”, this blend has a heartfelt origin. It began with a simple yellow Post-it note, where Nik - husband of Whist’s founder - carefully listed the oils and exact ratios he envisioned for his own signature candle. After months of testing, the final fragrance was completed and personally approved by Nik, who also chose the name “Kith & Kin”, a tribute to the friends and family who meant everything to him.

Whist Candles are made using rapeseed wax because it is a sustainable, plant-based wax grown and produced in the UK and Europe. This gives it a naturally lower carbon footprint and does not cause any deforestation. Rapeseed wax burns cleaner and longer than soy or paraffin waxes. For every Whist candle purchased, both ourselves and Whist plant a tree to support reforestation.

Additionally, for every Kith & Kin candle sold, a charity donation is made to Dandelion Time; a Kent-based charity that provides nature based therapeutic support to children and families that are suffering significant emotional challenges. These challenges can arise from loss of a parent, neglect, domestic abuse and witnessing violence.
